Was it "pop" radar, do you know? Only the newer V1s pick up "pop" (read the
V1 site re "pop" and how police are not supposed to use them....)

On 3 occasions during that trip where it beeped, we saw the cop. Scary!

Query - was it being triggered by an actual cop, or was it one of those
roadside speed displays? The displays often run on non-FCC-approved
frequencies, and my older V1s will pick it up but the newer (not that new)
ones won't - better false-alarm discrimination. There's even a post about
this on the V1 site (why some roadside signs will not trigger the V1).

Mine failed on me a couple months ago. I was coming back from the Oregon
Coast, and was talking on the radio with the Ferrari behind me, and I could
hear his going off. Mine was silent, and we were in the same mode. We
verified that a few more times on the way home. Freaked me out to be "flying
blind."

I've sent mine in for service. $85 is good peace of mind.

I've got three V1s, of varying vintages, and they've NEVER failed. Some are
now going on, oh, 15+ years? The sheriff was just plain lying, or else his
gun is horribly, horribly out of tune (which I cannot believe).

Well, the local Sheriff tagged us renegade lawbreakers on our way back from
Cheyenne Frontier days for 60 in a 45 on a feeder street here in Ft. Fun.
The Sheriff's cruiser was coming at me from about 100 yards when I noticed
him pull over, turn around and flip on the lights. I looked down and was
going maybe 50 - 51, with my V1 fully powered.

The V1 never went off, even when he was pulled behind me writing the ticket.
I asked him how he new I was doing 60 and he said "I've got radar". Then I
said I have a radar detector and it never went off, and he seemed flustered.
Then I asked him what band and he said "K band".

All this seems highly suspicious, and perhaps I am a victim of "increasing
revenue syndrom", or perhaps my V1 just unexpectedly crapped out.

I plan on sending it to the factory for test/calibration to ensure it is
working, and I wonder if any of you have had similar experiences with a
non-functional V1 (or overly zealous fundraising police)?

Thanks,

Mark Lueker
