OK - so yesterday was the Italian Concours d'Elegance here in Seattle (the best event in their 15 year history, by all accounts). Amazing event. BIG props to the organizers, judges, and volunteers who made it all work. The organizers were gracious enough to offer me a roped-off spot for my F40 next to a couple of SERIOUSLY sweet early Alfa's (belonging to David Smith and Jon Shirley). So I figured I should get the car detailed before the show. I parked it, did a final wipe-down, and strolled off to enjoy the show. I counted through out the day - 13 people... THIRTEEN people came up to me and said "Wow, Steve. Is that really YOUR F40? I've never seen it that clean!" It became a running joke with the people I was hanging out with. :) But then I got to thinking about it - the reason that my F40 is in a pretty-much constant state of non-clean (rarely super-filthy, just bug splats, rain streaks, road grime, etc.) is because I LOVE driving it ("it is so choice... if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up"). So I'll let her enjoy her clean weekend, but tomorrow - it's back to the bug splats, baby! SteveJ
