Or, you could not be a jerk, invoke attorneys and lawsuits, demand money, or cause a fuss - and instead just suck it up for a few days of chaos and inconvenience so that: A single mother and her four children living in a soon-to-be-condemned house in Kirkland gets a new one for free. http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/thebigblog/archives/122572.asp Wait - a single mom caring for four kids doesn't make living with noise and displacement for a week worthwhile for you? What about: 1. A woman police officer who was paralyzed when shot on duty by a gang member, now in need of a handicapped accessible house? 2. Or how about a new home for the Marine who rushed to lower Manhattan on 9/11 to help rescue two police officers - and then kept his identity a secret because he wanted to avoid the publicity? 3. Parents to six kids, five of whom have been diagnosed as autistic? Still not good enough? Plenty more stories here: http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/bios/424.html But Dr. Steve is probably right, if everyone made a big enough fuss, I'm sure those jerk, heartless TV crews will just move on... It is probably too late now, but if, in the beginning the neighborhood banded together to continually call the police, photograph violations, including violation of curtilage, etc., you might have moved swiftly to find a friendly judge and serve them with a TRO to stop the actions that cause dimunition of your property rights and personal rights as well. And, of course, a quick group action to perhaps block the roads yourself with disabled vehicles, e.g. a group with two flat tires when they went down because you didn't hold the tire gauge tightely enough against the valve, lost the keys, etc, (anything that could be rapidly rectified should someone attempt to have it towed, parked neighborhood cars on the street in locations that you thought might be necessary for the TV crews to use, well you either get the idea or you don't... And, of course, consult with an attorney, you may have a class action cause of action against the show and all others involved personallhy to recover the costs of the damages you suffered and punitive damages as well as any other remedies available to you at law. TV crews can be bullies and I would suggest that on some occasions (read the disclaimers below, particularly those about legal advice but all others as well) any lawful tactic that can be used to disrupt their schedule for the sole purpose of preserving the peaceful exercise of all rights and privileges of property ownership of all others in the vicinity of the production target, and the peaceful exercise thereof must be implemented rapidly, preferably as a concerted action of all affected, in that once they have accomplished their goal of completeing production they simply won't give a damn about anything and will take the "so sue me" attitude. If, however, you refuse to yield to them, have them arrested for property offenses such as trespass and cited for such offenses as littering, their equipment moved when it blocks access to your driveway or towed if it is located on private property you might be effective enough to get them to give up and move away. Of course, you will have to deal with a really pissed neighbor, but then again he didn't give a damn about anyone else when he entered the contest in the first place. Dr. Steve Dr. Stephen B.
