for a Day' on the radio. The producers find people that are down on their
luck or those that life has been cruel to, and trot them out to make you
feel good because they are getting the break that they, in your
opinion,?deserve. After the show, you feel good and probably will go out and
buy the sponsors products to show your support for a worthy cause. Sorry if
I sound a little jaded, but to me it sounds like the 'Jerry Springer Show'
without the single-wide trailers.

And your point is what, exactly?

Who loses in this scenario? Family gets a new house. Network makes money
for its shareholders. Sponsors sell a few more appliances. Viewers get to
enjoy an hour of wholesome family television.

Is someone getting cheated?

I've never seen an episode of this show, but, hey, sounds good to me.

Willi, how does this scenario differ from, say, the charity car shows that
raise money for Police Benevolent associations?

PBA wants money to provide for widows, disabled cops, buy vests, whatever.
Rich attendees with Ferraris go to the shows, write a check, hope to get a
sticker that might help them with a ticket. Visitors see some cool cars,
maybe buy a t-shirt, maybe be inclined to patronize the pizza shop or
supermarket sponsoring the thing.

Is that jaded?

Or is that just how the real world works?

Vty,
