The square root symbol is hex 221A  -  decimal 8730, available for use 
in most but not all font sets but most email programs will not show more 
than the first 512 characters in the set.  So best to use " sqrt( ) " 

For the desperate, hold down the 'alt' key and type 251. No guarantees.
