Tom, my friend:

You have finally submitted something that the "Smart"car is good for. Quite
a bit like the Three Stooges of automobiles. Maybe they can do it again with
three cars, Moe Smart, Larry Smart & Curley Smart-car.

And, just as the Stooges, despite the fact that they played them in the
movies, would not be suitable physicians, plumbers, etc., the "Smart"car is not

quite suitable for many driving applications including commuting in the highly
(lane, right-of-way, etc.) competitive traffic of megaplexes such as D/FW,
LA, Houston, etc., where the use of a turn signal is viewed as a challenge
rather than a motoring courtesy, of course, over the road touring is out, and
those motoring experiences requiring even a modicum of comfort are likewise
eliminated.

Personally, I wouldn't drive one except on a go-cart course, but then again,
as Audrey has said, it is only with some difficulty that I have accepted the
realities of the 20th Century so it will be a while before the 21st Century
becomes relevant to me.

Ah, nothing quite like enjoying the Ferrari on the open road, exploring in
the Excursion or the "G", or simply touring in the Silver Cloud or the
Corniche. As for the pragmatic, well either the Spur or the Lincoln Town car
perform
these duties quite well, and without bringing out my appropriately acquired
claustrophobia. The good news is that only expect ~30 more years on this earth
and current estimates show that our current petroleum reserves will outlast
me, and perhaps even then some. My kids and grandchildren can only hope that
the Nobel Committee shows more good sense than they have in the past and
makes awards to real scientists and worthwhile humanists who can deal with the

world in a more practical, and less hypocritical manner than someone with a
$2k+/mo. electric bill in only one of his homes, who travels in private jet
aircraft rather than by Southwest Airlines or other economy carriers and in
limousines rather than "Smart"cars while he promotes conservation as a mode of
existence for the more mortal rest of us. Between Gore and NYC's "green"
Bloomberg use enough energy for an entire American small town.
