Hey J&P: I never had the privilege of meeting Linda, but when I worked in
Hollywood in the early 1960's I did meet Barbara Payton, the ex-movie starlet.
She lived in the broken down hotel across the street from the newspaper. By
that time she had burned all her bridges at the studios and had gone from a
$15k a week contract actress to a $5 a trick steet hooker. In her prime she had
gone through everybody in Hollywood from Howard Hughes to Bob Hope, and maybe
Rin-Tin-Tin too. 'I was told that' she had the same talent that Linda
possessed. <G> She finally died of an overdose in the late 60's at the age of
39. The author John O'Dell write a bio of her called, 'Kiss Tomorrow Goodby -
The Barbara Payton Story' that I contributed to. Hell, I'm even in the credits.
Google her for an interesting read.

I'll bet that having Linda Lovelace on your lap was an "uplifting" experience!?
No wonder she wrote "keep it up!"

One time many years ago, Linda decided to try and do legitimate theatre, she
opened in a play here in Phila.( I do not recall the name date or how long the
play ran) at any rate after the play there was a charity dinner. My wife and I
attended the dinner with a table full of friends....during dessert Linda came
over to our table sat on my lap and chatted she autographed my play bill, "Dear
Phil keep it up, love Linda". I think that she as well as I found it an
uplifting experience. I believe that my wife subsequently disposed of the book
and the autograph but the memory lingers.
