All good advice from Charles. If you want to take a little more defensive/aggressive approach take a lesson from Tony Soprano - schedule an initial consult with the 5 best divorce attorneys in your area and that will deny them to your wife.

Sorry to hear that - that's got to multiply the hurt to give up a toy you've obviously waited for for years.

I don't know anyone in the market at the moment, but I'll keep an ear
out.

Colors & transmission type?

Thanks again.....
I would ask if anyone knows someone looking for a 430 spider. I have an
07 with under 100 miles on it I need to get rid of now. I'll cheap sell it
at $310k. It is brand new and just came in last week. Unfortunately I can
not afford to keep it now.

Dan -

Very sorry to hear about your troubles. While I haven't had the problem
myself, many close friends and employees have and I know it can be
disturbing and ugly, especially for someone like you who seems to have
led a sane life.

If I can be so bold, I'd like to give you a couple of hints based on the
experiences of several of my employees, several of whom have spent years
and tens of thousands of dollars in the courts fighting custody battles
and fabricated allegations on the part of ex-spouses. This is one of
those situations where it is imperative that you hope for the best, but
plan for the worst. This will sound a little crazy and paranoid, but it
is experience talking.

Anything you do from this point forward with her or your son needs to be
done with another person present who can be your ally in court. You
should not see her by yourself, and whenever possible you should have
people around when you're with your son. I know this isn't always
practical, but fabricated allegations are nearly impossible to defend
against (you can't prove a negative), so whenever possible you need to
have a corroborating witness on your side. If you have phone
conversations with her, record them. A simple $50 tape recorder and
interface from Radio Shack can save your behind. To that effect, make
sure she can only reach you on a phone you can record - don't take calls
from her via cell phone, for example, and maybe get a second recorder
for your work phone. If you expect her back at the house for any reason,
with or without sheriffs, get a security camera system and a recorder. A
$1000 CostCo/Sam's system is fine, which will come with four cameras, a
monitor and a digital recorder. If she comes with a tirade, that tape
can save you. It can also prove you were not violent with her, which is
the most common made-up charge by a woman trying to win custody of her
kids.

At 18 months you probably don't use it, but if your son spends any time
at daycare/pre-school or with babysitters, make sure you explain the
situation to them and start cultivating a relationship of trust with
them. If called to testify, you want to make sure they are friendly with
your case - not hers.

Start documenting everything that happens religiously while it is fresh
in your mind. I know it's overwhelmingly painful right now, but you need
to start keeping a journal with detailed notes of everything starting
from Thanksgiving including dates, times, people present (including
sheriffs), rough transcript, etc. For things like the recent sheriff's
visit, ask them to file a report even if no charges transpire. It will
help you later for them (as impartial witnesses) to document the
speeding, anger, etc. Again, I hate to say it about a woman that you've
loved and that I don't know, but my experience indicates that she is
probably capable of some astounding lies and her lawyer will be even
moreso, so you need to be prepared to make whatever allegations they
dream up in search of custody, alimony, your house & savings, etc. seem
like the lies they are.

Immediately cancel any credit cards that the two of you share and close
and move any bank accounts she has access to. Find the best attorney you
can, and to the best of your ability, restrict her financial ability to
do the same. Things are very emotional now, but doing these few
practical things now, while you're thinking more clearly than her, will
be a blessing. Once she starts getting advice from friends and lawyers,
it can get uglier in an exponential fashion.

I really do wish you the best, and if reconciliation is possible and
desirable, I hope it comes to pass. But as I said, as upsetting as it
may be, plan for the very worst and work toward the best. It may be a
long and bumpy ride, but your List friends are here for you, as I'm sure
will be your personal friends and family. Don't be afraid to ask for
whatever you might need - people really do want to help.

Good luck,

-- charles

I really appreciate all you guys kind words. It's been a miserable few
days
other than having my son with me here. At 18 months he really doesn't
know
what's going on but for his sake and my sanity, the moment the truck was

loading I went out and replaced everything she took with the exception
of
the dining room. You know, his house was a maze and I didn't think his
surroundings or paths needed to change. The dining area is now his play
area
with a ball pit and his electric cars etc... It's going to be an
emotional
roller coaster ride but I am trying to keep my senses. I do feel
somewhat
that yesterday I was reduced to the "trailer trash" level as she had
three
Broward Sheriff deputies show up right before she came to get the little

guy. She had called after we had gotten into a spat over the phone
regarding
her not seeing him for five days. To which I had said something to the
effect of "I'm happy to have temporary custody". She called the Sheriff
and
told them she was here and I would not let her have "her son". They were

very nice and I invited them in as she came barreling around the corner
at a
high rate of speed. There were no charges or even a report filed as they

rather saw that she was full of anger and hatred. I just have never had
the
police called for anything and I can't imagine what the neighbors think.
I'm
sooo embarrassed. And to think I would still do anything in this world
to
have my family as a whole again.

Hi Dan,
Cannot imagine what you are going through - I suspect it's the kind

of

thing that only those who have experienced it can truely know how &

what

you feel.

We'll be praying for you - hang in there - it's sure to get better.

I'm writing a country song guys. It starts like this....

house..........I get stuck there a fall into the mode of songs

already

written. Meatloaf, Sinead O'Connor, Staind,etc.....
I sincerely hope everyone had a much better holiday than myself.
