After a battery of tests, xrays, ultrasound - and a bunch of poking  
and prodding - I got some "good" news.  Not my kidneys after all.   
Diagnosed as a severe lower back sprain and a pinched nerve.  Still,  
getting several days of pain meds, muscle relaxers and bed rest.
