Thank you Rick for that voice of sanity! The Scientific community is often characterized as buying into the whole Global Warming scam - you probably know how the Kyoto Treaty was bastardized to make it appear scientists had signed off on it - so I won't repeat that story unless someone asks -

The frustrating part of this mess is the truth is so darned logical yet the talking heads on TV ignore all that and keep quoting the fringe fanatics who are wearing tin foil hats to keep the CIA & aliens (the outr space kind - not illegals) from reading their minds - the logic is, of course, just as you described, ie Kansas used to be covered with ice but thanks to global warming that has been occuring naturally for 50k years (the latest cycle) that part of the US is now inhabital. Also, when something like Mt Pinatabo (sp?) erupts like it did about 20 years ago, it spews so much junk in the air it is difficult to calculate! Yes, cars and people add pollutants to the atmosphere, but unless they are concentrated into a tiny space (relatively) like the bowl Los Angeles sits it, it dissapates and becomes harmless.

IIRC, human activity produces 3% of the greenhouse gases some propose we regulate - so if we cut our emissions by 50% we'd prevent 1.5% emissions! A multi-trillion dollar effort that would have a 1.5% reduction!! That defines ludicrous!
BTW, The balance of the greenhouse gases are produced by oceans and forests. But that doesn;t seem to matter -

But if women stop drooling over Ferrari's we'd solve some part of the problem, if we'd only known it was so easy!! And now we find what we knew all along - it's all the womens fault. yeah, right.
You tell 'em ;-)

This is all stupid. Do these people actually think
they can regulate a begillion people in the likes of
China and India - or do they think they can just
punish American and Europe for the assumed sins of the
world? (No, I'm not picking on Asia, just developing
contries in general.)

I am a scientist and I believe that humans CAN
influence the climate but only in a tiny unmeasurable
way compared to what the Earth itself can and HAS DONE
many times over. I mean, this planet has been FROZEN
OVER and it has also been a tropical furnace. And
these conditions weren't caused by humans or fossils
using fossil fuels! :-P The point is; It is typical
human arrogance to believe that we're important enough
to actually damage the Earth! Folks, on this scale,
we're just not that important.

I wish I could say, "Nobody would ever fall for that

course, there's always people on the fanatic fringe
who will start carrying
signs and chanting "Ration Carbon Now, Ration Carbon
Now" And the media
will show it over and over making it appear bigger
than it is -
