Larry,

Don't plan for the short term on the video storage. Remember when 128mb was
a whopping amount of memory, now we're into multi-terabyte sizes. You will
quickly realize that you will always want to record more than you can ever
watch and will put the extra storage space to use. It's cheap, so not much
of a worry.

As for the late model DVD-burning units not being reliable, I don't know
what Paul's experience has been with them, but the Toshiba units that my dad
and I own have been rock-solid since the day they were purchased and worth
every penny.

There are many DVR's, but really only one choice, TiVo. I can answer many
of your questions, feel free to hit me off-list.

Lee Lingo
7 TiVo's (most modded) but never enough space on the hard drives... :-)

LARRY T asked:

Double check the time...some machines offer 3 levels of quality and
80 hours poor may only be 30 best.

>One thing, can I copy programs I record to DVD's?

Many machines (except series 1 TIVO) have USB connections to
transfer video to your PC for burning.
There is a late model TIVO with integral DVD burner but the reliability is
questionable.

Have you checked weaknees.com ? They are the prime source for
parts, service, hacks, etc.
