The Hampton Inn in Las Cruces is the best stop I have found on I-10  
between IAH and LAX. And it's almost exactly halfway. Just a small  
factoid for all the road warriors out there.

Rick, if you haven't already, try the route west from Socorro past  
the VLA to Springerville and then south - fabulous driving roads.
