Dang - imagine going just a bit faster than one can in pit road and getting
pretty seriously clanged. Well, ok, twice as fast but still - - -

Subject: [Ferrari] NFC: Hamilton loses license
Lewis Hamilton has been banned from driving for a month after being caught speeding on a French motorway.
The McLaren Mercedes driver was clocked at nearly 200km/h near the town of Laon on Sunday, with police fining him 600 euros and confiscating his car - which has since been collected on his behalf.
"He was very polite and co-operative," a French police spokesman told Reuters.
Hamilton finished second to Kimi Raikkonen in the Formula 1 standings after the best rookie season in F1 history.
Now, of course that brings up the question of what kind of car Lewis was driving, which, oddly, wasn't mentioned in the above story. But, wait, there's more...and some more detail. It was a Mercedes of some sort.

Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has had his licence suspended after being caught driving at 40mph above the speed limit in northern France.
Hamilton, who was driving at 122mph on the French autoroute near the town of Laon on Sunday, was banned for a month.
Police also fined him £429 and detained his Mercedes. A police spokesman told The Guardian newspaper: "He was very polite and cooperative." Hamilton has since had his car collected from the police compound.
The rookie McLaren driver narrowly missed out on the World Driver's Championship to Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, and came second in this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
He recently appeared on Top Gear, where he posted the fourth fastest time in the Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car segment, only a few tenths of a second behind the Stig, despite driving on an oily and greasy track.
And, finally (third time lucky?) we have a story posted at: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=124023
PARIS - Lewis Hamilton, rookie star for the McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 team this year, has had his driver license suspended in France after being stopped for speeding at 123 mph on the northern French A26 highway last weekend.
Hamilton was driving, bien entendu, a Mercedes-Benz CLK, which was confiscated by the police officers who stopped him near Laon, about 85 miles northeast of Paris. His speed of 196 km/h (123 mph) was well above the posted speed limit of 130 km/h (80 mph). He was driven back to his hotel by police and received a mandatory fine of about $865 and had his license to drive in France suspended for a month.
A McLaren spokesman was quoted by the Times of London today as saying Hamilton's professional driving would not be affected by the penalty.
