It might liven up the debate in the Michigan Republican Primary as the epitome of "outsourcing". Of course the "Detroit Big Three" could just each purchase a variant of this pseudo-car licensed from TATA and then push them out to increase their CAFE fleet ratings. And there is one added "feature" that we all, perhaps, have missed. When the new Federally approved, anti-terrorist National Identification Card (aka the new, Patriot Act Conforming Driver's License document that we all will soon be compelled to obtain) is issued and the government then figures out that by a coding in the strip on the back of the license document that they can record the identification, CAFE score, etc., of each individual automobile that we drive (we won't even mention adding to the coding when one purchases a firearm, but of course this would just be for police officer safety as he could put the license into his card reader and learn if you own any firearms that "might" be in the vehicle involved in the stop) they will be able to develop CAFE scores for each individual driver. Then, of course, we could also have "traffic fine civil surcharges" similar to the ones enacted in VA recently and those us who don't have conforming individual CAFE scores may be ordered to pay surcharged penalties for each traffic offense. But then again, each of us could also purchase one, or more if necessary, of these pseudo-cars, either the original TATA Indian version (which could, in the interests of minimizing outsourcing could have a factored reduction in CAFE benefits) or one of the variants pushed out by the "Detroit Big Three" (no value reduction required here, even for Chryslers since they were sold off by the former DCAG). As for the additional social engineering techniques that may be developed from this field of micro-pseudocars, and their potential for becoming a "jumping off point" for the "Greening of the World", well only the minds of our legislatures and public officials will be the limit. And when such a leader is blessed with the cash proceeds of something such as the Nobel Prize that person could use these proceeds to buy up a fleet of micro-pseudocars and then use their CAFE, etc. points to compensate for the credits lost by $2k electric bills in their residences, travel by personal jet aircraft, etc., and thus avoid living in the Brave New World that they were instrumental in creating. Living on the cutting edge of the "Brave New World" gets more exciting every day.
