I keep wondering what the commentators mean when they say a car was bought for less than the restoration cost. I assume that means a car was bought for $80K and the resto cost was estimated to be $100k. I would think a lot of restorers would be looking for other work if that's the case.

Yeah, I think your comment about muscle car prices being lower than they used to be. Some cars like Cuda's and GTOs that went quickly to over $100K seems to stall at $75k or $80k. Then again, there must be a limit to how many muscle cars the public can absorb.

Also, some restorers seem to be updating a lot of cars that didn;t start out that way - for instance, regular Mustang Coupes that are made to appear to be Boss 302s - not that they are being misrepresented, just that they're not the real deal. If they have to do that does it mean all the good stuff is squirreled away in collections? Maybe some potential buyers are staying home figuring all the "real" muscle cars are gone?

One more observation and I'll go away - don't people usually go to auctions to try and get a deal? Doesn't seem to be many deals at B-J.

Have a nice, quiet, Sunday evening -

I watched bits and pieces of it this week, not that I'm the expert on the
price pulse, but numbers seemed down. Maybe the muscle car bubble is
starting to deflate...

Well with the auctions at Monterey in August and Florida in the
spring, someone wanting to consign their Ferrari may figure they will
have more luck at a place where more tifosi are present. Scottsdale
was all muscle cars this year. With the housing bust and the DOW on
the skids can collector cars hold their value?
