I'm inspired also.

I took the 308 out today for its first real drive since completing all the
front end work. Drove from home (Poway, CA) to Solana Beach, then down to
Mission Valley and home again. Mostly freeway driving with the top off on a
beautiful sunny California day. The old 308 feels like a frisky new car.
Amazing what rebuilding the front suspension can do to the feel of the car.
New ball joints, A-arm bushings, sway bar bushings, shocks, brake lines, tie
rod ends. Handling is rock steady on the freeway and through the curves.
Engine even seems to sound sweeter. I think she likes it.

The effect of re-aligning the steering wheel with the steering rack was a
pleasant surprise. Now the turning circle in each direction is the same.
Easier to maneuver out of the garage. Definitely worth it.

I've got new Energy Suspension A-arm bushings ordered for the rear. Hope to
get those in in a couple of weeks and start tearing the rear suspension apart.
I've got a wire welder now, so I can weld the bushing shells to the A-arms
myself. Looking forward to that.

Damn, these cars are fun!

Hello Gang,

Reading the 308 stuff you've posted and a Ferrari
auction on SPEED last night has me inspired to get
back to work on my 308. I need to get the A/C done
but that's no big deal. I'll handle that locally,
doing much of the R&R work myself. What I am
considering is redoing the interior but NOT on a
shoe-string budget like I have been doing, redying,
etc.. I'm considering new seat covers, carpets and
refinishing the dash. Everything else is in pretty
nice shape.

There are a number of places who market kits for this
kind of work but please tell me of the outfits YOU may
have used. I know its expensive and I can live with
that. I just don't like paying for worthless prestige
mark-up.

Thanks,

Rick
