BTW-this thread motivated me to pull the plugs on the C5R motor. The Iridiums 
were scheduled and designed for a 100k service interval on a stock engine, 
correct?

They didn't look pretty on mine due to the relatively aggressive cam profile.

I might put mine on a 10k replacement schedule.

The excessive oil consumption on early Z06 was
due to very light piston ring tension.  This was done
to maximize HP - a very common trick in race
motors.  When the problem surfaced, the "official"
GM recommondation was to change out the
synthetic oil with "dino" oil for one oil change
cycle.  It was hoped that this would seat the rings.
It worked in some cases, but not all.
