My guess its electrical in nature and that you need to check your CPU which
is in the luggage compartment and there is usually moisture in there.
A 10mm socket will get it out and you can clean it up, and when I had a 308
I put those moisture removal bags that come with electrical equipment in
there to soak up moisture.
This is an old car (27yrs) and corrosion most likely has caused your
problems.
Check your plug wires and extensions as well .
And the cap and rotor.
There is a carbon center plug that makes the contact to the rotor. You might
have to remove the center carbon plug and extend the spring a little so it
applies pressure to the rotor.
Make sure the center cap is resting on it. Check both of them.
Clean the cap and rotor well with a dremel tool wire brush, get all the capr
contacts shinny.
If you are not getting any serious mechanical noises like those in running
around in Bubba;s head you are most likely ok there.
It’s a cheap fix just a lot of pain staking work.
If you stay ahead of it it’s a piece of cake.
Hope this works.
