Actually, it is pretty noisy at speed, but mainly road noise.  I've retained 
the stock exhaust system, as I drive it to and from the races and prefer to be 
able to listen to the stereo.  But up at 160, we have to yell to be heard.  The 
older Z06s like mine have minimal sound insulation.  Depending on the surface, 
road noise can be a problem.

I have a GPS installed to get accurate speed readings, but the timing is all 
done with stopwatches.  We survey the course using a GPS, create course notes 
based on the GPS readings and then a handheld stopwatch to calculate the 
difference between actual and theoretical time.  

Speedo on the Corvette is fairly accurate.  Indicated 160mph is actually 163mph 
(measured by the GPS).
