Ha! I just wrote Hans about Tonopah, NV - as miserable a speed trap  
as ever there was. You have been ripping across the desert for hours  
at triple digits, then you come down the hill...

Slow to 55
Slow to 45 (there is nothing to see but a failed bared wire fence)
Slow to 25 ... (an outhouse and a dead dog)

Finally in town, sharp Left:  it's Slow to 15 - your sense of motion  
is so skewed from hours at high velocity that you feel you could get  
out of the car, walk to the corner and wait for it.

The only place worse is Tularosa, NM; the venereal disease of small  
towns. 10 MPH and they trail you in unmarked cars for 3 miles out  
into the desert before the town limit ends - in unmarked Caprices.  
Try running THAT in a Ferrari, the cops are thicker than flies on a  
used tampon - which is a good mental picture of Tularosa when you  
think about it!
