I think what Ken is referring to is the RCS (radar cross section), headlights facing forward on a car look like a billboard to most radar systems and reflect laser back pretty well also, they have chrome parabolic reflectors in the headlight assemblies any radar ahead of you will bounce straight ahead and slightly to the left (same as your headlights)... And provide an excellent return signal. Black cars, not so sure, but non-metallic body work definitely, I think the best stealth car out there is a C5 Corvette with its lights off, and fogs removed, lose the metal facia if you have a Z06... That said, these days the locals are trying to gather their taxes any way they can and speeding tickets will be gotten if you speed, V1 or not... I got one last week on the way to work not even going much over the limit (Hawthorne Woods PD has literally nothing better to do, and tickets are their only reason to exist I think). I broke Ken's first rule, I was not paying attention (and I left the V1 in the other car!). It sucks but oh well. Or ? Does having the headlights lit make the radar more effective? I read an article years ago by someone who drives as you suggest - said he often averages 90mph + on most trips but he never cruises in the fast lane with headlights ablaze.
