Did not look at the link but:
you don't need a tuner with a cable reciver or satilite receiver.
HDTV is not better than a computer monitor my 24" dell is 1920 by 1200 which is better 1080P/I
that HD delivers.
Pioneer has stopped making their own plasma tubes. can mean that plasma is on the way out or not.
I have a neighbor that his Pioneer plasma Died just after warranty expired.
Of course in electronics it is a crap shoot, remember Beta vs VHS more recently HDDVD vs Blueray I went with both the losers.
I bought 72" DLP which is probably going the way of Beta and HDDVD.

Good luck
Stephen

As usual I turn to the great bucket of knowledge when I have a question like
this ;-) You guys are always so helpful when people are looking at this
kind of stuff.

I know this technolgy was discussed recently b ut I was not in the market
and didn;t pay close attention.

Found this
http://www.next4electronics.com/product_info.php?products_id=11190 42"
Plasma TV for $478. It seems more of a computer monitor than a TV - in the
specs it says it does not have a TV tuner. Is a TV tuner necessary if I have
a cable box? I can;t imagine anyone needing a 42" computer monitor! Well,
perhaps in a corporate teaching environment - altho even that would be
overkill -

It seems like a good deal but this technology changes faster than I can
learn about it. Any comments would be appreciated -
