This is great! Now can we tie in some String Theory into this? Would the flatulence coming fom say a car parked in Ft Wayne as the occupant is reading his Blackberry have the slightest effect on the vortices of gasseous emissions from fellow FListers in either hemisphere??

Okay, this thread has degraded so far that even I can contribute!
A friend of mine in New Zealand, professes to be trying to fart negative "stink radicals" (A.K.A. negative farticles, in the common press). His theory is that if he can fart negative stink radicals he can, with proper balance, negate the smell of positive radicals - just by taking a dump! Then again, who knows what kind of energy might be released when the two farticles annihilate one another?! Could this be the source of 'dark matter'?
I love science.

Quite possibly correct, except for 1 minor issue.... In the Southern Hemisphere, the vortex of the outgoing particle stream would in fact rotate in a direction opposite to that of a similar vortex created in the NH. This is evident when examining the direction of rotation of high and low pressure weather systems between the 2 hemispheres (global warming relevance here). Consequently, a positive radical displaced from, say, San Francisco, would in fact be enhanced if subjected to a negative farticle vortex when in the Southern Hemisphere. This would totally unbalance the status quo of radicals in both hemispheres. The best evidence for this yet is the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior (itself a vessel of radicalism) by the French military in the 80's while at berth in Auckland. ie the traditional NH positive radical (Rainbow Warrior and crew) was upstaged by the now even more radical French military. Ergo, it is an ill wind that blows when the French fart down under, under the covers of darkness.
YMMV (Gas related economy link), Dave
