I have a mondial-t and looking to add another horsey
you really only have a few ways to go

348's are a even swap, 355's are the next step up on v8's without killing yourself in over complication and expense.
if your 6ft and over, 308's and 328's are out, 308gt4 is about it

you can branch to 12's and do a testerossa 85-89

after that the cost is quite high and it gets harder and harder to do your own work as well

Probably not what one would prefer to hear, particularly given the hostility
to 348 series cars on the list, but is there a particular reason for
searching exclusively for a 355 series or is there just one particular car in
question that is being sought (sorry, but I've missed part of this discussion).

I spent so long agonizing over my Ferrari purchase that I think I may have
missed a model changeover in the process. I received much sage advice from Tom
Reynolds, Clyde, and a number of others, but one of the most memorable
comments was that the "348 series was the last one that was not 'married to the
dealers' for maintenance and repairs. I'm sure that there are a number of
independent shops, but if you don't live near one, and don't wish to budget for an
FNA dealership's rates for service and repairs, this might be a major
consideration. It was for me as the nearest shop specializing in Ferraris is more
than 60 miles from here and dealers are in Indianapolis and Atlanta (4+/- hrs.
in either direction).

And, of course the Spyder has a good, old-fashioned, manual top that gets
put up and down with a little more inconvenience but significantly more
reliability.

development work was left to the owners. Knowing the issues will help you see how much
previous owners have done and how much you may have to do.
