Make perfect sense to me - it always seemed like it was the most powerful energy in the universe - except perhaps for the fusion action powering the sun/stars -must be gravity yet we do little (nothng??) to harness it. I would think it could provide the energy for perpetual motion if anything could.
Of course, "perpetual" is a mighty long time!
Are we still trying to come up with a way to make cold fusion work?
With all the billions we waste on "Bridges to Nowhere" and "Cow Flatulence Studies" we could throw a few billion toward some of the more promising solutions -
Of course, I doubt any of the above will allow a V12 or flat 6 to create the kind of music they are capable of --

Good writeup and good guess but
The only viable solution is the anti-gravity interactor which is yet to be perfected and is underfunded, unfortunately. Reducing a two ton vehicle weight to under 20# at the flick of a switch allows it to be powered by miniscule engines.
Just as semiconductors replaced tubes, not by making larger ones or by changing the way they were made. Obtuse non scientists push alternative fuels which is like making larger tubes. The answer is in a 'right angle technology' that is, not extrapolating forward but congruent, by accomplishing the same thing totally different way. AGI will replace need for fuel, oil or alternative.
Yes nuclear for homes but AGI for cars. Still a few years away but you heard it here first.
