Hmm, that is just patently a lie and untrue.

No one said anything about no cancers. At the time the fallout US media
predicted millions of people to be affected and that that didn't happen.
Obviously those within the immediate area were affected as they didn't
vacuate the area until it was too late, New Orleans style lack of bus drivers -
plus there was no containment building and party hacks running the show.
Read the book, quite informative.
