It does a very good job in situations like that described although most *real* lubricants would work as well and may last longer.

Hey Michael - I had the same problem with my 78 GTS. First looked up costof replacement for whole lock. Found out I could replace car cheaper. Outof desperation, I gave it a spritz of WD40. Jiggle the steering wheel and turn the key - works every time. That fix was done in 1996. Good luck. Keep us posted. DOUG PS - WD 40 is not a good lubricant and lubricants go - but it did do the trick.----- Original Message ----- From: "Michel Y Savard" <mysavard [at] dsuper.net>To: "DOUG" <dnt [at] dock.net> Cc: "The FerrariList" <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2008 12:24 PM Subject: [Ferrari] FW: 308 ignition key problemMichel -----Original Message----- From: Michel Savard [mailto:mysavard [at] dsuper.net] Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2008 2:30 PM To: 'ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com' Subject: FW: 308 ignition key problem I have a 1981 308 GTSi. I just can't turn my key anymore. I can put it at ON and turn on the lights and other things. The problem started last year, but I could always manage to play around with the key to make it start the engine. But today was impossible, I gave up after 15 minutes of trying. I need to have it fix before next Sunday because I have a full racetrack day at Mont-Tremblant with the Ferrari dealership. How expensive are those key barrels (that's how we call them here in Quebec) on 308s ? Do I need to absolutely have a Ferrari key barrel ? Can I use an after market type ? Thanks for the help ? Funny thing is the same thing happened to me with my 2000 Ford Focus 2 weeks ago. It cost me $290.00 to have the key barrel change.
