$1.25 / hr? musta been old hands - or in the late 60s - I worked at Newport News Shipbuilding in '68-'73 & started at $1.26/hr which was Min Wage at the time. Was talking to my son earlier today about this and he was having trouble understanding how we rented a apartment at that wage - the apartment we rented was ~$80/mo for a 2br apt - 2br upstairs and LR & kit down- it was apretty nice place BTW - not new but in a good part of town. We didn't have any ids for another couple of years either which helped too -

As the min. wage went up the cost f everything went up.

The days of Self-Service and Pay at the pump changed everything -

;-)

Things have changed -

Also early P car 356 syndrome. One was to lift the hood a few inches to
unset the latch then lower. It was called "service station hood." That was reminiscent of the olden days - drive into a gas station, run over the black ding-ding hose, five attendants would rush out and "service" your car. Gas
tank being in the front - fill tank - and a $1.25 / hour attendant would
pull down hood to lock it. Boinnnng - oops. All in a days work. heh heh

Same on my '79 308GTB. The only threat there is if someone grabs the hood and tries to pull it closed. Since the locking strut is on one side only,
that action will bend the hood.

Our '78 GTS' front strut is not a gas shock - its
better than that - it
looks like one but has a button release gizmo. No sagging
hoods for the
Fazzaz.
