I agree fully.  It's not hard.  There is a bit of a learning curve, but
nothing that any reasonable backyard tinkerer can't master.

The factory service manual has what is probably the simplest
way of syncronizing.

The only part that required any special equipment was in selecting
the air corrector - and to lesser extent, the main - jets.  Altho
it can be done experimentally, it's really best done with an A/F
meter while on a chassis dyno.  But it's only a one time expense.
