Yea, the cleaning bit is happening. I don't like working on dirty cars either. i just couldn't resist a little constructive tinkering while I was cleaning. I try to clean from top to bottom so that gravity doesn't put crap all over the cleaned bits. That's why job one was to clean the engine room cover and to replace the insulation/heat barrier on that lid. I'm now working on down - when I don't get distracted and start playing. I need to test my cold start injector too. It's 25 years old and who know its condition?! Just talked with Rui this morning/afternoon only to learn that he replaced his injector because its spray pattern wasn't a pattern at all. It was a linear squirt. My car starts (cold) just fantastic. One touch of the starter and its on task. It does, however, need a good deal of extra air for starting when warm. That says the charge is too rich. Is my CSInjector leaking? Quite possibly. Is the thermotime switch stuck closed? Dunno. Haven't gotten far enough to test that. I will remove, clean and test the cold start injector - and while I'm at it, I'll clean and test the thermotime switch and associated circuit. Next will come the warm up/control pressure regulator. I know that it is plumbed wrong because that is where the 'mechanics' modified the system when they 'federalized' the car 25 years ago. Those aftermarket lambda modifications, now dormant, are still there and will be removed as part of this service. My Mondial QV is a Standard Specification car with a straight K-Jetronic FI. A.K.A., "Lambda? We don't need no stinkin' lambda."
