I live happily in a very nice fourth (top) story unit in the middle of Houston. The clever archtitect designed 8 buildings clustered around a parking garage. Each tenant can drive to their respective floor and, using a handy walkway, park within a few feet of their door. There is a fifth level I call the boyfriend's level because it is frequently half full on weekend mornings.

I go up there on nice days to do minor work on the car - pleasant, quiet, great view. Right across the street is a block-long anonymous office. No signage atall. . Tight security. It is a regional headquarters of some sort for Standard Oil. [google street view 3120 Buffalo Speedway 77098]

So one day I am happily fiddling with something on the roof and along comes one of those black suburbans. Very pleasant young guy gets out and flicks a badge at me. Asks would I mind moving my car because he needs to park exactly in my spot, near the edge of the building (where he can look across the street). Of course, ossifer!

He was there several days on and off. I suspect there may have been threats against Standard Oil and the office building entrance was being monitored. But that is just surmise on my part.
