Hey Paul -
Sounds like Bernie's power has gone to his head! And his head has gone all whacky!

Seems like we're getting closer and closer to Spec racing than ever. And what's the deal with smaller teams being subsidized by engine manufacturers? Why not let Bernie release some of his freakin *billion* $$s net worth?? He seems good at giving away *other* people's money but
squeezes his nickles until the Buffalo farts!

I would think limiting the amount of sponsorship money would more effective limit spending --

Sincerely,
Larry T (74 911, 91 300D 2.5T)

Color me grumpy, ansy or eager....bring on F1. Like to hear more about the changes, too. What I see so far -

FIA claims 30% savings by mandating:

Engine life is to be doubled - 8 engines per season per driver - engineering on that will sure save money! Engine manufacturers are to subsidise the smaller, independent teams by supplying their engines at a 50% of last yrs cost. Cut staff involved in spotting during the race (thats 22 spotters for 1 1/2 hours per week) yet no pay cuts in Bernies office
RPM reduced 5% from 19k to 18k
Wind tunnel models scaled to 60% actual size and limited to 112mph - (building 60% models isn't cheaper than using a100% chassis)
Factories to close 6 weeks per year
KERS system...now theres a cheap system.

Typical government speak - everything they touch is costly
