>Have you ever noticed that we all seem to get 'grumpy' before the F1 season >begins? Every year its the same. Color me grumpy, ansy or eager....bring on F1. Like to hear more about the changes, too. What I see so far - FIA claims 30% savings by mandating: Engine life is to be doubled - 8 engines per season per driver - engineering on that will sure save money! Engine manufacturers are to subsidise the smaller, independent teams by supplying their engines at a 50% of last yrs cost. Cut staff involved in spotting during the race (thats 22 spotters for 1 1/2 hours per week) yet no pay cuts in Bernies office RPM reduced 5% from 19k to 18k Wind tunnel models scaled to 60% actual size and limited to 112mph - (building 60% models isn't cheaper than using a100% chassis) Factories to close 6 weeks per year KERS system...now theres a cheap system. Typical government speak - everything they touch is costly
