Yep - Miles Collier.  When I was talking with him (owww, long distance, during 
the day, ding ding ding) I had NO idea who what or when he was.  He said he'd 
have a guy who was in Los Angeles area come up to San Fran area and pick up car 
on the way to his Conn garage --- ???  Um, ok.  Say, do you mind sending me 
$100 to hold the car for you?  Not at all.  Still have a copy of his check and 
post card.  His printing is about the size of this type!  Tiny and precise.

I later found more stuff for the 51 and wrote him to ask him where he wanted me 
to send them - never heard from him.

  Did you say Miles Collier? He roamed the Sports Car scene when Phil Hill was 
still in college and before I'd ever heard of Ferrari. Although Miles was from 
the other coast, he, Briggs Cunningham and Luigi Chenetti, among others around 
the Watkins Glen area helped bring sports car racing into its golden age in the 
1950s.

  I don't think that too many Listers have heard of him.
