I love the old Lancias Bubba. I had a 78 Beta Zagato SE for all of four hours. I bought the car from a sailor at the inland naval base in Millington, TN in 1988. I immediately took it to the tire store for new shoes and was headed home with it to show off to my buddies and girlfriend. I was sitting in a turn lane at a red light and that's the last thing I remember. It seems an old Ford Grenade full of "rap music enthusiasts" were paying more attention to bouncing in their seats than motoring down a 5 lane road. At dusk they had no headlights on and I happened to be in neutral reaching for a cigarette so I was not looking straight ahead so I never saw them coming. It's safe to say you don't expect people to fly through an intersection in the opposing turn lane. I can tell you the seat belt anchor point was literally torn from the floor and I bounced off the windshield removing the rear view mirror with my shnoz and busted out the passenger side window with my head.. Still have the scar on my tater. Amazing how the car held up for a Targa/Convertible from a 40 MPH head on hit. I perhaps should have been killed. I kept the keys on my ring for a few years as a souvenir/ memento since I loved the car so much. Funny enough a couple of years later I was driving by a Chevrolet dealer and they had a red one sitting out front. Of course I stopped to look at the car and while the sales guy went to get the keys and I was sitting in it, I tried my old ignition key in the cylinder and it worked. The sales guy of course was rather dumbfounded. I thought to myself, what are the odds that two Beta Zagato's end up in Memphis,TN of all places with the same damn keys cylinders. Anyway, thanks for bringing back the memory Bubba. I always wanted a Scorpion or Monte Carlo since although I liked the Scorpion metal sail panels more than the glass on the Monte Carlos. My long winded Lancia story. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Red5hilser [at] aol.com>

I almost bought one back in the day. But it had a stock VW engine, and I was
looking for a Porsche Super 90 engine to stuff into it, but couldn't find
one for the right (read: cheap) price at the time. So I ended up with a same color '77 Lancia Scorpion instead. Too bad, I really liked the Spider styling.

The only thing that I would have done to it was to put clear plexiglas over
the headlights, ala the Ferrari Sports Racers of the time.

Plus, maybe if I was horny enough, slap a couple Cavallinos on the front
fenders for my infamous, "Hey baby, wanna ride in Daddy's Ferrari?" trick. LMFAO!

Yea, I know, Bubba has no shame! (But had a lot of fun 'rides,' if y'all
know what I mean!) <g>

Yer pal, Ferrari Bubba

_1968 Puma - In US and For Sale on eBay_

(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zp5hU5oekAI/SZ3FR1ZgnyI/AAAAAAAAAUI/Doy8WWCa9tY/s1600-h/106.jpg) Puma was a Brazilian sports car company that made a number of cars based on DKW and VW platforms and later using Chevy parts. While some
were sold as kits, most Pumas were sold as fully assembled automobiles.

This one is based on air-cooled VW running gear. The suspension is VW also.

The body is what makes the Puma special. There were many VW based sports
cars and kits produced in the sixties and seventies. Most were gimmicky looking cars and some were just downright ugly. This is not that case with the Puma. The Puma Spyder (and many of the other Puma models) is a beautifully styled
car that could have come from any of the famous Italian design houses.

It's unclear as to whether the car being offered on eBay was a kit or Puma built car. The seller lists it as a 1968, but most sources state that the Puma convertible (Spyder) was not introduced until 1970. No matter, this car is
an outstanding example of Puma's beautiful Spyder.

Being based on a VW means that drivetrain and suspension parts are
inexpensive and very easy to find . Body parts are much tougher to find, but, being
fiberglass rust is not a problem.

There are very few cars that are this rare, this beautiful, and are this
easy to maintain. Yes, you'll forever be explaining that this is not a kit car, but having a car that is this nice looking with easy parts availability will
make it all worthwhile.

Even of you're not in the market for a Puma check out the listing just to
