Hans notes "I ask him if he [Tom Tjaarda] liked the designs of any modern cars and mentioned the new Chrysler 300C."
Hello Hans - living right down the street (Audi design is Simi Valley, CA), so to speak, from Freeman Thomas - one of the New Bug designers, I will tell him. Freeman left Chrysler to go back to work with his old Audi design boss, J. May. They are both at Ford - maybe for the last couple of years.
BMW has a design center over in Newberry Park - fun thing to do is go over there on a Sunday when no one is around and go to the back the design building. Outside there is a turn table while the all glass building surrounds it - go over there to see what will be put on the turn table on Monday. ah ah ah
Freeman is an interesting fellow. When he was at Ital Design, working on the Audi TT, he mentioned there are several companies that use Ital. So you may have several hot new cars being built there, behind closed doors - so to speak. Every once in a while they would get together for a dinner - most boring thing that could happen - - - no one was into sports, and they couldn't talk about work. ah ah
DOUGPS - enjoyed your pictures. Fun stuff, eh?
