Ok, you just sparked a memory. Two summers ago, I was having all the wood in my Rolls-Royce P-III refinished. I was having it done by a real craftsman (Stan Scantlin) up in Pennsylvania Amish country who specializes in RR/B wood. His next door neighbors are an Amish family, and the oldest boy Levi (15 at the time) helps out with the woodwork. Anyhow, on the day they were doing the final polishing and installation of the wood, I came up to watch/help. Levi had taken a ride with Stan out to the shop where my car was being re-wired, and we worked together. At lunchtime, we walk a block to a restaurant but my 308 is parked outside. Levi wouldn't know the difference between a Ford and a Ferrari, but he does notice that this car looks different than the others he's used to seeing. He walked around it several times looking at it. Later that afternoon, Stan suggested I take Levi for a ride to the ice cream shop....so I did. We went a little out of the way so I could do a little bit of higher speed running (still really only about 45mph, but accelerating up pretty quick. Levi stated, "This car feels like it has a lot of power!" But my favorite part was pulling up to the ice cream shop with him in his pants, suspenders, and hat. We definitely got some looks.... When we got back to the shop, Levi was suitably impressed with the experience. Stan suggested to Levi that he needed something like the 308 around the farm, and I pointed to the Ferrari badge on the front and told him "It's even pulled by a horse!" ;-) -matt '85 308 '39 P-III On Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 6:55 PM, Scott Saidel <Ferrarisimo [at] comcast.net> wrote: > It certainly is NOT a horseless carriage. > > Scottie >
