2009/3/30 LarryT <l02turner [at] comcast.net> Many of the Group C cars had huge down force in their days. I remember watching as they would run on street courses at times. They would have to weld down the man hole covers before races. Once, I remember seeing, a car sucked a welded down manhole cover up, and smashed it in two!! As I remember, these were not full skirted cars either!! Wow I think we've come a long way in the past 20 years of finding creative ways to keep the cars on the ground, without the some of the penalties of down force robbing hp. Still, the faster you go, the more hp you need, and once over 200, the hp needs start to go up, REALLY fast for small gains in speed.
