I was staying at the only hotel in the Indy area that was less than $250/night.

We heard the cries of cougars at night...not sure if they were from the fields
or the bar downstairs though.

I'm glad I missed that mess at the Indy USGP. Then again, I was there for the
mess the first two years.

You said the fights were in the grandstands...also in the corn fields a mile
away...

Speaking of pulling G's, der Frau and I flew to Texas Speedway several years
ago
to watch the CART Indy Car races there. During practice, the drivers were
'greying out' in the corners due to pulling excessive G's.

So . . . an hour before the race, most of the drivers, headed by Michael
Andretti said that it was 'too dangerous', and wouldn't drive.

So the promoters cancelled the race and refunded the price of the tickets. That
was the good news. The bad news was that were were out RT air fare, rental car,
hotel, and meals. Well over $1,000 dollars.

Almost as bad as he trip to Indy for the Bridgestone only USGP. The only
difference between the two races was at Texas, the fistfights were in the pits,
and at the USGP, we had several break out on our grandstand. Talk about fun!

I love the smell of tear gas in the morning and fans being hauled away in
handcuffs! <g> Who else was there for that fiasco?

Yer 'been there, seen that' pal, Battling' Bubba

Maybe drivers will have to wear G Suits like fighter pilots wear.

Have  been watching my tape of the recent subject race and have a couple of
questions
for the brain rust, make that brain trust.  One of the  commentators
mentioned the P1 leaders were pulling 4 G's thru some corners  and around
1.5G on braking (!!) - pretty incredible,  He also said  the braking,
especially, was very hard on the legs and back - painful in  fact - every
lap, over and over.

Ya think we're close to creating  cars that are too demanding physically for
the drivers?  M Shumacher  was very fit when driving F1 as was most other
drivers at that level - I  suspect that was for self protection as much as
for improving their  driving ability.

Or perhaps the cars already exist that are so good at  pulling high G's when
cornering or braking that they had to be redesigned  to allow the drivers
some hint of the ability to be in control?  IOW,  are the designs of the cars
being restrained by the drivers  physiology?

Next, where were the Porsche RS Spyders?  Taking a  break?  ;-)

Thanks gang -
