Oh man that Supra story brings back memories, bad ones..I had a student at Texas World Speedway who had a Supra that made over 650 rwhp according to the driver.
Unfortunately it was so tweaked and peaky that it made all of that power all at once at about 6000 rpm (maybe higher)... So coming out of the apex of a corner you got this swift kick in the ass every time that made the car want to rotate faster than a lift in a Porsche 930.
Completely undriveable power. I am sure on a drag strip its amazing, but real racing or driving its a death trap. Poor guy ended up looping the car a few times. I drove it for him also and had a hell of time with it as well. That took Supra's off my list of sportscars I would ever consider owning. Also made me very cautious when driving anything turbo charged (though my GTI with APR tuning is quite phenomenal)

Just a quick note. I know we are getting tired of what V8 into what car. When I did One Lap, I was trailing a 1978 928 updated to 928S4 looks. Owner dropped in an aluminum Chevy 405 cu in. Reason? Couldn't afford to make same HP in a Porsche motor. Pure economics.I was drafting him going downhill in a "prepared/Conforti backed prototype" E30 M3 through some mountains in Utah at 145 MPH then he floored it!!! Puff of smoke from the dual exhaust sticking through the bumper and he pulled away HARD and I couldn't keep up. I couldn't believe I still heard the exhaust roar over the wind noise. He said he backed off when he hit 180 MPH. Too scary... LOL In Thailand, a popular motor to drop into anything is a Supra turbo motor. My friend picked up kit on a recent visit for his BMW E34. Supra motors can handle 850 hp on the stock bottom end. Daily driven at 500hp. Hopefully we'll get it done in July. He already has the motor and trans. Just a few more knickknacks and we start pulling the old Big 6 out. He saw over 2 dozen converted like this at one shop. Apparently that shop has completed several hundred of high HP conversions into the BMW E34 and he didn't have a second thought in purchasing the conversion brackets.
