I was in Charlotte last week for work and stopped in at Foreign Cars Italia's satelite office there. They had a nice cross section of new and used cars in the house, including the Gran Turismo and all manner of Astons. I do think the Gran Turismo is beautiful, especially the S with the dark convex front grill, but my dollars will still be voting for the Aston. Unfortunately they didn't have a DBS to see - I really want to look at one of those in person since they took a stunningly beautiful car (the DB9) and added a bunch of boy-racer looking bits to it. I can't decide from photos whether it works for me or not. I also got to drive a friends Vantage V8 recently, and while it wasn't a speed demon, it shares the same beautiful lines, Aston Growl, and a forgiving ride quality as the bigger cars. I'm looking forward to reading about the Vantage V12. They also had one TR in excellent shape in the back. What struck me is how SMALL that car looked, packed in tightly with their other inventory. When I look at mine in the garage or on the drive, it looks like such a massive car, but it is truly dwarfed by a 360 or even the new 911 Turbo. Makes you understand why no one can build a car under 3500 lbs anymore. I also have to mention how friendly and helpful the FCI staff was - attentive without being intrusive. This is rarely the case in exotic dealerships. I don't know whether it's the pained economy or just an unusually good group of people there, but it was really a pleasant time to stop by. I even got a nice Aston Martin T-shirt (silver silkscreening on BRG) for just $15. The only Ferrari badged item I ever got for $15 was a copy of a service invoice... :-) -- charles _______________________________________________ Charles G Perry IV Vice-President, Engineering Carolina Sound Communications - MuzaK 7630 Southrail Road, BLDG B N. I went to the eastern end of Long Island wine country yesterday and ran into a white/burgundy Gran Turismo.... Must say that it looked great....very nice road presence. Really translated well in the wild...the Aston Martins may have a smoother shape, but the Maser looked much meaner from the front, in the spirit of a real Italian car! I think Charles & Steve J should add it to their lists! A nice exhaust, perhaps a manual transmission conversion, and you're set...
