Jim notes "Areas full of pollution (namely NOx and Ozone) will cause tires to age much faster as well."
Correcto mendo Jim - ozone is the number two tire sidewall killer. Numbah one is low tire pressures which allows the tire to flex which builds up heat. Kapow.
Ozone readily bonds with the sulfur in the tire compound and when the bonds break down, air doest hold rubber together too well and it cracks.
Onward DOUGAs we used to say in school - buy good rubber and check it twice - you dont want a blow out.
