You can't charge extra if people choose to pay with a card, UNLESS they
are informed and agree to it. The way around that is to not accept
credit cards for any purchase over $1500 (or whatever amount) unless the
buyer covers the fees. The other way around i is to raise prices and
offer a cash discount, but I don't like to raise prices of my cars by
$2,000+ just in case someone wants to pay with a card. It's too rare an
occurrence.

Isn't there something in the agreement between the merchant and the credit card company that says something to the effect that the merchant can't penalize a customer for paying with a credit card, ie pass the fee(s) on to them? Or does that only apply up to a certain amount? Jeff -----Original Message-----From: Brian E. I don't charge a fee for up to a certain $ amount, but if someone wants to purchase something out of the ordinary, such as a car, etc, I charge them the bank fees and have them sign paperwork acknowledging that. On some deals a $1,000 bank fee could erase profits!Brian LarryT wrote:Cool! You must have enough built in to the price to cover the merchantaccount fee? There was a dealership in NC that sold a new MB - and the customer wanted to pay using Amex - since they publicized they accepted AMEX (intended for the parts dept) they had to accept it for the new car sales. Don't know ow much their merchant fee was or how much their new car marginwas but they raised such a fuss it was in the newpaper -Isn't the merchant fee usually between 2% & 4% depending on salesvolumn?LarryT https://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/accept-membership.asp Free 1 year NRA membership to anyone interested!_________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/coyote%40acme-ltd.comSponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlineshttp://www.F1Headlines.com/ _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/brianbuxton%40buxtonmotorsports.comSponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlineshttp://www.F1Headlines.com/
