It's not just supply and demand that dictates oil prices look at Enron with the 
illegal market making practices where they coerced power outages at California 
energy plants during the summer months to make it seem like it was caused by 
the heat and limited power grid capacity, so their  traders would make the big 
bucks on predictions of price junps.  Last year after the government began 
having Congressional hearings about market manipulation of oil prices by 
commodity traders, the oli prices went down.  It used to be Capitalism but its 
now much more about who owns whom, that is the market.
