A great deal of radiation was released by the core melt at TMI. The President's Commission estimated about 15 million curies of radiation were released into the atmosphere. A review of dose assessments, conducted by Dr. Jan Beyea, (National Audubon Society; 1984) (5) estimated that between 276 and 63,000 rems, per person, were delivered to the general population within 50 miles of TMI.

Now - notwithstanding that Dr. Beyea has no credentials as a Health Physicist...

Someone surely should have noted that a dose of 1000 rems is fatal to 100% of
the population thus exposed.

So anyone getting 63,000 rems of exposure would certainly be very dead.

Yet no deaths have ever been attributed to radiation sickness in the TMI area.

Another example of loony-lib-envirobabble fear and doom.
