Re: F1 season [SPOILER]

I think for me the problem this season is a lack of a serious conflict.
When it was Ferrari versus McLaren, for me there was a clear good guy
and a clear bad guy and I tuned in each week to see if good or evil
would triumph for that weekend, and for the season as a whole. There was
someone to cheer FOR and someone to root AGAINST.

Even one tier back, there was a reasonably clear fight between Williams,
BMW and Renault and probably everyone had a favorite in there somewhere.

My problem with this season is that I actually really like Braun, Button
and Barichello, and I really like Vettel and Webber. So there's not
really any excitement in knowing that someone I like is always at the
front, and it's not currently at the expense of someone I don't like.

Even for the last race where our guys started to show some of the old
competitiveness, it wasn't as interesting for me because they weren't
the ones sticking it to McLaren. All they were doing was pushing Red
Bull down a bit, but as I said, I like them, so it's not a "cheering"
moment. I have some smug satisfaction in seeing Hamilton at the back,
but when the team is its own problem, it doesn't make me want to watch.

Perhaps that's why I think Mosley is full of @#$@ when he says F1 can
survive without Ferrari. They could probably run a series, but Ferrari
is the team that most embodies conflict in F1 - you either love them or
you hate them, and it tends to run deep whichever way it goes. Without
that conflict, you're left with a series like CART where just about
anybody can take it or leave it.

I dunno, Clyde. I think it's a great season, maybe not as much
"overtaking"
as was hyped pre-season, but I do like the topsy-turvey nature of it and
the possible resurgence of Ferrari. Kind of like a Mafia "family war"
in 'The Godfather' where they say "something like this is needed every
5, 10 years just to clear out the bad blood." Or something like that.
Yer 'umble srvnt,

Brawn(the paper towel team) but help me out here where's the flash and
panache of the sport. I am going to the UK for the British GP in about 2
weeks
