Oh yeah, and another thing - the little engine was a Ferrari design for a
Lancia racer or some such thing. I have the parts books, owners manuals and
Auspree book on. LOVELY to look at.. Several 308 GTBs made the transition.
At least they looked better than a Pontiac Fiero to 308 GTB. heh heh

The 288 is not that hard to find. You will see several at Conc Ital. (Or maybe *used to* see, as Conc Ital is seriously screwed up now...) There are a number of them here in the PNW, including Ron Tonkin's, which was the last one made. I've seen more 288's than Enzo's, actually. Hans. I'll bet it screamed. Of course, I'm a huge 959 fan - the ultimatePorsche - but you can have a similar car in the newer 911 AWD Turbo. Sameconcept with different tactics for reaching the conclusion....IMO The 288 would have been a sleeper - many people would have called ita "Magnum Ferrari" which it is similar to - but beneath those wide fenderflairs and additional scoops and aero aides is a whole nuther ball game. Iwish I could hear those twin turbos spool up in anger (in person) - I'll bet it's not something that is soon forgotten.
