LS, I got a cheap Mapp gas-O2 torch at Home Depot, heated them to cherry red and used a 1/2" compressed air driven impact wrench. They spun right off. It took 2 of the little cylinders of O2. Total cost of torch/gas and O2 was about $40. Larry asked if I re-used the nuts/bolts. No, all new fromRicambi, nuts and bolts. Never re-use any fasteners that you had to heat to get off. I have lots of pictures. The 2 best things to come along since my early days with English sportscars
are Ziploc baggies and the 5 MegaPixel camera. Reassembly is so much easier. Regards, George

Some may recall that, some time ago,? I missed a shift and found out the hard way that they person who installed new timing belts when I purchasedthe car had failed to properly tension the 5-8 belt. It slipped a few teethand the exhaust valves kissed the piston crowns bending the exhaust valves just enough that they wouldn't seat. I pulled the engine and replaced thevalves, timing belts, hoses etc. . While I had the engine out I also did somecosmetic things including painting the cam covers? and the plenum withred crinkle-finish . The engine went back in and she is back on the road. Aside fromthe usual compression tests, she? passed the "right-foot" test. Last week Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where I work, hosted a Vintage Car Show. I brought Baby in and she was a real hit. The other cars there were mostlyAmerican Muscle cars my 308 GTSi really stood out.
