Thx Gang -There is absolutely nothing in this world as knowledgable as a bunch of Ferrari owners when it comes to deciding if & when a used Ferrari is priced at a reasonable level.! Thanks to all who responded. BTW, I'm not in the market. I'd dearly love a TR or a 550 or 360 for that matter but at the moment things are too tight.
This TR just happened to catch my eye and I thought I'd mention it because it looked like a decent deal - all depending on the maintanence history of course.
It all comes down to what work is needed, what work has been left undone and what was done wrong. I suspect getting an honest answer to those questions might be the hard part..
Someone mentioned the inventory at GullwingMotorCars - they certainly have a huge range of cars! I only look at the sports cars but they seem to have everything from AH 3000 & XKE basket cases (literally in baskets!) all the way to very nice 275GTBs for 7 figures.
Don't know what kind of info comes with the cars they sell - I guess it all matters what kind of previous/current owner the car comes from.- or is on contingency from.
Anyway - thanks for the info - I really found the omparision of the TR and 550. The 550 has always been one of my most desirable Ferrari's. IMO, it looks to have a direct lineage back to the 365 Daytona. I think its the car Ferrari should have built following the Daytona but of course, the technology wasn't there at that time.
Don't know if I would think of the 550 and TR as comparable though. They seem to be very different with different purposes. The 550 seems to be a high performance GT road eater while the TR is more of a "take no enemies" sports car - although a rather large one. That's not a very good explanation but maybe some of you know what I'm trying to say? They seem to be apples and oranges...

But it is worthless at the condition it was in. Hold out for a 512, but you'd be better off in a 550, much better car overall. Damn near bullet proof.550 is a better car sure, but is that what he wants? A 599 is a better car than a 550 but how many people want that? 512 TR/M is the way to go.
