Balmoral? Is that the one up on a hill/cliff with a soccer field down below? I remember going there in 1985... If it's the castle I am thinking about... Yeah Hamster and Maye are all over the BBC...

Hey George!

The Stig's identity is revealed on an episode this year (on BBC) - right
after taking an FXX around the track. You can find it on YouTube :)

Clarkson has been doing car stuff for BBC for years. My favorite
Clarkson parody is:
  Clarkson Island http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCvdTXrXsBc
(More Clarksons than anywhere in the WOOOooORLD).

When I was in Scotland earlier this year, the few times I saw a TV,
Hammond WAS on it each time! Seriously. Don't know what shows, but they
were all different and had him on it.... he really is everywhere. Oh!
And they end their first challenge where we stayed, at the Balmoral in
Edinburgh - they were there the week after we left!!! DOH!

BUT, James May is the luckiest SOB in the WooOOorld... this actually
brings a tear to my eye, and really the only time I've ever been truly
jealous of someone:

Hi List,

I've been wanting to ask some of our British listers about the show,
"Top Gear". It's become one of my favorites since I first learned about
it a year or two back.

Generally speaking, what are the qualifications of the guys who host the show? They seem to be pretty good drivers (with the possible exception of James May, who I still maintain is the *actual* "Stig"! yeah, yeah,
I know, I'm just being facetious - but it would be funny!), and
certainly seem to be very knowledgeable about cars in general. Are they (former) racers? Automotive writers? And does Richard Hammond do other
TV work (I seem to recall some statements to that effect on one of the
episodes)? Have any of them posted times around the test track in the
"reasonably priced car"? I can't help but wonder how they would do.

And for the ham radio guys in the group - did anyone decipher the morse
code The Stig was listening to as he was testing the Tesla?

Thanks - any other Top Gear trivia to be shared? Would love to hear it!

George P.
